Mark Kirk - Keeping Kids Safe?

He's been going around patting himself on the back for legislation that really he didn't have much to do with. I guess it's better than if he was hanging out with Mark Foley and actually co-sponsored the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act (H.R. 4472).

I have an idea - why doesn't he sponsor legislation to do the same background checks on congressmen that they do on teachers? It would really make election season less embarrassing for the Republican party. Oh yeah, I just checked and he's still not admitting he's a Republican on his website other than a few mentions by reporters in clippings.

I've got Spinach!

Yep, safe spinach not from California. I get a vegetable share from Angelic Organics each week. I never know what I'll get and today I got spinach (at least it looks like spinach), potatoes, a sweet potato, radishes, Jerusalem artichokes - I love these, onions, garlic, swiss chard, and a leek. Leeks are outstanding in quiche. And a couple squash.

I share this with a coworker but a lot of mine does spoil. I think I'll have to go with the farmer's market next year due to logistics but Angelic Organics has some of the tastiest veggies I've ever eaten. I'll miss their mesclun.

Pay attention, this is good advice!

There are a number of nasty computer problems out there, go to Windows Update and update your computer right now! Also, have you updated your antivirus lately? If you're looking at this blog through a high speed internet connection, go to your internet provider's home page and they should offer you free antivirus software. Really - I have Comcast and they give me free McAffee antivirus. A $70 value or so.

If you have a lot of popup ads or if you routinely go to Russian porn sites, you need to go to Windows Update first. There's a problem in the component that's used mainly to draw irritating ads on your screen. It's been exploited and can be used to run anything a criminal gang wants to on your computer. Go to the Internet Storm Center if you don't believe me.

Or you can use Firefox like I do. It gets exploited but not nearly as often.
